Holy Bat-Juke, Batman! To commemorate the DVD release on December 3rd of the Nolan brothers third and penultimate Batman installment, Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros has partnered with Nissan to create a one-off edition of their Nissan Juke Nismo. Yeah, a Nismo Juke.
The Dark Knight Rises Juke Nismo, as it is officially called, is about as far from the Batmobile as one can get, but that doesn't mean I don't really really want it.
Appearance-wise, it's all Dark Knight. Matte black paint recalls a bit of the Tumbler, although the addition of red accents and striping is a nice touch. The Bat Signal from Dark Knight Rises takes pride of place on the grill and tailgate opposite the Nismo logo. A shark fin style antenna looks a bit like the fins on Michael Keaton's Batmobile or the blades on Batman's gauntlets. In a feat of geeked-out design genius, downlighters mounted under the door mirrors project the Bat Signal onto the floor area around the doors.
Inside, the Bat-Signal abounds: embroidered on the headrests of the suede trimmed Nismo seats, on the kickplates and in an uplighter that projects the signal onto the black headlining.
The Juke Nismo, on which the Dark Knight Rises Juke Nismo is based, isn't just Nismo in design only. It features a 200 horse 1.6 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder turning the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox in addition to a Nismo bodykit and upgraded suspension. It will do 0-60 in 7.8 seconds.
Nissan is giving away the Dark Knight Rises Juke Nismo to one lucky person through www.BuilttoThrill.co.uk. Deadline to enter is February 28th, 2013. While I would really like a Batman edition Aventador, this Juke is awesome.
